Introducing … Kirsty Trotter, Tour Manager
Please tell us a little bit about yourself
I am 55 and live in the New Forest. I am an Open Water Swim Coach and run a business called Swim Eat Sleep Repeat, offering swim adventures and coaching in rivers, lakes and the sea. I also work 3 days a week for a racehorse breeder. I am currently training for my Hill & Moorland Leader qualification and love walking on Dartmoor, especially the walks usually include a swim spot or two! I am always up for an adventure and love exploring new places.
At my core, I’m motivated by people, shared experiences, and the belief that the most extraordinary moments happen when we dare to step beyond what feels comfortable.
How long have you been with Different Travel? How did you get involved?
I first got involved with Different Travel when they started organising the Bluetit Swim Holidays. I have been lucky enough to guide on swim holidays in Wales, Dorset and Iceland.
What was your first Different Travel trip? What made it special?
My first Different Travel trip was with St Luke’s Hospice, trekking in Iceland. I loved getting to know the group and seeing friendships grow during the trip
What has been your most memorable Different Travel adventure to date?
During the trip to Iceland, our final day of trekking brought us past a geothermal river. We could see the steam rising as we approached it. We all got in and wallowed in the warm water. It was heavenly!
If you could go on an adventure with three people (past or present, real or fictional), who would they be and why?
David Attenborough for his wildlife knowledge, Dan Snow for his history knowledge and Miranda Hart to make us all laugh!
What is your ultimate dream destination?
I would really like to visit the Scandinavian countries.
Which Different Travel adventure appeals to you, and why?
There are so many great trips to choose from! I think my number 1 at the moment would be the Machu Picchu Trek. I haven’t visited South America and I love the idea of a challenging trek at altitude to the Inca ruins.
What do you love about working with Different Travel
I enjoy being a part of the Tour Manager team and the support that we give each other, and when I go on a trip, I know that I will be supported by the UK team and that the trip has been well planned and organised in conjunction with excellent local guides.
