Bristol Animal Rescue Centre
Bristol Animal Rescue Centre is the oldest and most prominent rescue centre in Bristol and the surrounding areas, having been founded in 1887, and we are the second home for stray dogs in the whole of the country. Our mission is to ensure animals within our community receive the compassion, care and respect they deserve. We are committed to helping, healing and homing animals for as long as they need us.
Our dedicated team works hard to provide shelter, specialist care and a second chance at a happy life for hundreds of animals every year. We support animals throughout every stage of their journey, from medical treatment and specialist care through to behavioural support and finding them loving new homes. We also support pet owners within our local community who may need help, advice or practical support.
We care for a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and birds. In 2025 alone, we rehomed 89 dogs, 194 cats and 72 small animals. As a branch of the RSPCA, we also care for animals who have experienced some of the worst cases of neglect and abuse within the city, using our experience and expertise to give them the care and compassion they need before finding them a new home.
