Sarah - Director, Planning & Operations
Having completed a degree in South-East Asian Studies and developed a love of travel & adventure along the way, Sarah spent several years living and working in the region before deciding it was time to get a 'proper job' back in the UK. Naturally this meant a job in travel, so her passion could continue and she spent several years planning the land tours for an expedition cruising company. In early 2005 Sarah was one of the founders of the Different Travel Company and ever since has been planning and operating challenges and adventures all over the world. Some of Sarah's highlights from Different Travel trips include canoeing down the Zambezi, seeing 4 of the world's top 20 highest mountains during a trek in Nepal, and seeing the difference made by our very first group out in Sri Lanka just months after the devastating Boxing Day tsunami.
Jill - Sales and Marketing
Jill has been with Different Travel for 6 years and in that time she has introduced Different Travel to hundreds of charities and organisations but has also found time to travel to India, Borneo, parts of Africa and Sri Lanka. Jill's highlights include seeing orang utans in the wild; helping at and visiting projects such as the rescued performing bears project and getting to know the people whose paths she has crossed including the street children, tsunami victims and Mother Theresa's Sisters.
Lexi - Sales Support Executive
Lexi is a keen traveller and trekker and has travelled in North and South America, Asia, Africa and Europe. She has a Law degree and enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking and climbing mountains. One of her ambitions is to climb Mt Aconcagua at 6962m. Lexi's highlights from Different Travel challenges include meeting amazing people who become lifelong friends, reaching the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro and realising you are the higher than everyone on 4 of the world's continents and sleeping under the stars in the Sahara desert after a delicious Moroccan feast!
Vicky - Tour Manager
Vicky tries to balance a travel industry career with a passion for authentic travel experiences. She has a love of mountains and adrenaline and has travelled extensively learning along the way. Vicky is trained as a field guide (ranger) after living on the Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa. Her highlights of Different Travel charity challenges include having the opportunity to visit the Galapagos, helping clear beaches of plastic washed up from cruise ships and sharing a sunset with marine iguanas and visiting the dramatic Victoria Falls, which is her favourite place on earth.
Becki - Tour Manager
Becki has travelled to over 50 countries, ranging from five star tours to solo backpacking across remote countries, and her love of hiking means she often finds herself climbing mountains somewhere in the world! She enjoys sports, spending time with friends and family, and discovering new things to see and do in familiar places like London. Becki's highlights include summiting Mt Kilimanjaro twice and trekking to Everest Base Camp; working with lions near the mighty Victoria Falls; and being part of passengers' life-changing experiences and seeing their reactions when they achieve the seemingly impossible.
Ada - Tour Manager
Ada is a very keen photographer and is passionate about travel. One of her ambitions is to trek to Nepal's Everest Base Camp at 5364m. Ada's highlights from Different Travel charity challenges include seeing how much of a difference it makes for the local communities when a group help out at a project and discovering life off the tourist trail. Some of her favourite memories include cycling around the temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia and waking up to a beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas during the Annapurna trail trek in Nepal.
Penny - Tour Manager
Penny has lived in Turkey, Malaysia, Ethiopia and America and has travelled to lots of other countries. She enjoys walking, dancing (tango in particular), skydiving and seeing friends for a catch up over coffee and cake. If she had to rate countries by coffee and cake quality Portugal, Spain, Turkey and Ethiopia are top 4. Her highlights from Different Travel expeditions include the smile of the kids when they see their newly painted room at a project, the mix of the physical and mental challenge on Vietnam's Mt Fansipan and the beauty and sense of amazement you get when looking at the endless sand dunes from rock outcrops in the Sahara.
John - Tour Manager / Trip Medic
John is a keen sportsman with a particular interest in running, swimming and basketball. He enjoys yoga and spending time with his friends and family. His highlights from Different Travel adventures include having a night time 'bath' in a rock pool full of ice cold glacier water from the Himalayas, with only a headlamp for illumination, the sound of waterfalls in the background and black mountain bears to keep him company, and the feeling of seeing Uhuru Peak for the first time and realising that he and the group were only meters away from the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro.
Caroline - Tour Manager
Caroline's highlights from Different Travel charity challenges include camping under the stars and spotting hippos by canoe on the Zambezi; planting 5000 mulberry trees with the locals in Nepal; and spending Christmas in Goa with the orphans cared for my Mother Theresa's Roses and seeing the smiles on the children's faces when Santa arrived!
