About You
Are there any age restrictions?
None of our volunteer holidays have an upper age limit. Our holidays are not generally suitable for children under the age of 14, although in some instances they are still welcome to join us with adequate adult supervision. If you have doubts about your age or fitness, then we suggest you talk to your doctor before taking any decisions. However, we have successfully run our volunteer holidays for people of all ages and all fitness levels, and we firmly believe that everybody has something to offer. We will always seek a way to enable those who are older or less fit to contribute positively to the group and the projects. The exception to this is some of our Different Challenge charity challenges which involve considerable strenous activity - if in doubt, please consult your doctor taking the full itinerary with you.
Are your volunteer holidays suitable for disabled people?
Although we hope that all our holidays are open to people with disabilities, not every project we undertake can accommodate people with more restrictive disabilities. For example, those which involve a degree of strenuous physical activity might not be suitable for people in wheelchairs. However, people with disabilities are very often gifted and enabled in ways that non-disabled people are not. Therefore, we firmly believe that everybody can offer something. If you wish to discuss your particular circumstances, please contact us in person.
Are your volunteer holidays ‘gay friendly’?
We as a company dislike discrimination and prejudice in all forms, and we take every reasonable step to ensure that lesbian, gay and bisexual travellers are both welcome and made to feel welcome. We assure our travellers that intolerance of a group member for any reason will not be tolerated, and that any LGB person travelling with us will be treated with respect and courtesy. Any person travelling with us who has a contrary view will be expected to abide by the company view and refrain from words or actions that could lead to offence or insult against LGB people. If needs be, this will be reiterated by a tour leader – as per our terms and conditions of booking.
However, we ask for understanding in that the culture and attitudes of some local people are not so gay-friendly, and LGB people may feel uncomfortable in some environments. For further advice on particular destinations please ask us.
