About Medical Matters
Can you offer any medical advice for volunteer holidays or charity challenges?
It is essential that you contact your GP for medical advice whenever travelling - regardless of where and when you go. You may also need to see your practice nurse for a list of inoculations and recommended medication to counteract malaria and other possible tropical diseases.
For some destinations there are compulsory innoculations, such as yellow fever for parts of Africa and South America. We will advise you in these instances and valid certificates must be carried to show at immigration. If for any medical reason your doctor advises against having these compulsory innoculations, he/she will be able to provide a medical certificate stating the reasons and most countries will accept this instead.
Do medical restrictions apply to any of your volunteer travel opportunities?
Some of our trips, particularly our 'Challenges', will not be suitable for certain people, due to the amount of strenuous physical activity involved, or the altitudes reached. Any such restrictions are mentioned on the itineraries, but if you are in any doubt as to your ability to take part, we recommend you consult your doctor. It is also important you advise your insurance company of any medical conditions which might affect your ability to take part in a particular trip.
